A Portrait Every Day in 2025: Inspired by Rick Rubin’s The Creative Act.
In Rick Rubin’s “The Creative Act”, he reminds us that creativity isn’t about perfection—it’s about showing up and letting the act of creating take on a life of its own.
Inspired by that ethos, I’ve decided to take on a personal challenge for 2025: to create one portrait every day. No rules, no agenda, and no judgment—just the simple act of making. Some portraits might involve elaborate setups with controlled lighting, while others might be spontaneous and raw, taken in the moment. Each one will be a step in the practice of staying connected to the craft I love.
This challenge isn’t about chasing a final product; it’s about honoring the process. It’s a chance to explore, experiment, and push beyond the boundaries of what I think a portrait “should” be. And, hopefully, it will open up new doors in my work as an artist and as a photographer.
I’ll be sharing some of these portraits along the way, so feel free to follow this journey as it unfolds. Here’s to a year of creating without fear, one frame at a time.
